touched beauty of northern Tanzania, Zawadi Camp lives up to its name—Zawadi, meaning gift in Swahili. With sweeping views of the Serengeti plains or the rugged highlands (depending on location), this intimate tented camp is a place where the wild feels close, and each day is wrapped in wonder.

It’s not just a place to stay. It’s a place to feel deeply—connected, grounded, and profoundly alive.

An Intimate Camp with a Generous Spirit

Zawadi Camp is designed to be both a retreat and a revelation—modest in scale, rich in experience:

  • Just a handful of classic canvas tents, each thoughtfully positioned for privacy and open sky views

  • Comfortable beds, solar-powered lighting, and private en-suite bathrooms with hot bucket showers

  • A warm, welcoming mess tent where meals are shared, stories flow, and the day unwinds beside the fire

  • Natural surroundings that shift with the light—golden grasses, starlit skies, and animals on the move

  • A quiet elegance rooted in simplicity, where nothing is rushed and everything has meaning

This is safari stripped back to its most essential beauty—honest, heartfelt, unforgettable.

Where the Safari Unfolds Naturally

From Zawadi Camp, the wild is never far. Game drives begin as you leave your tent, and adventure is guided not by the clock—but by nature itself:

  • Daily safaris into world-renowned national parks and nearby wilderness areas (location-dependent)

  • Expert local guides who track with intuition and tell stories that bring the landscape to life

  • The chance to see lions on the prowl, giraffes in silhouette, and herds moving across the horizon

  • Seasonal wildlife spectacles—from wildebeest migrations to nesting birds and rare sightings

  • Flexible schedules that allow for early game drives, midday rest, and magical sundowners

At Zawadi, the safari isn’t staged. It flows—real, raw, and guided by the rhythms of the land.

Meals That Nourish More Than Hunger

Dining at Zawadi Camp is about more than food—it’s about the feeling that comes with it:

  • Homestyle cooking prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients

  • Dishes that blend East African warmth with global comfort

  • Bush breakfasts, picnic lunches, and dinners under stars or lanterns

  • Personalized care for every dietary preference and special request

  • Shared meals that turn strangers into companions

Every plate tells a story—and every meal is a moment to slow down and savor.

People Who Make It Personal

Zawadi Camp may be modest in size, but its heart is immense:

  • Staff who know the land, love their work, and welcome you with genuine joy

  • Guides who don’t just teach—you feel their connection to the wild in every word and glance

  • Hosts who listen, remember, and quietly shape your stay into something unique

  • A spirit of community—supporting local livelihoods and protecting the landscapes they cherish

You’ll leave with photographs, yes—but also with names, friendships, and memories that linger.

Why Choose Zawadi Camp?

✔ Small, soulful camp set in pristine wilderness
✔ Excellent guiding and personalized safari experiences
✔ Authentic tented comfort with eco-friendly practices

Assad!

Very good safari road trip Great value for money. The organization by Kilipath was perfect: they were available, responsive, and everything ran on schedule. The team is extremely motivated. The jeep was spacious and comfortable, with power outlets to charge phones (although they didn’t always work). Our guide, David, was an excellent driver and did everything he could to make sure we were satisfied. He was very friendly and always in a great mood. The choice of lodges was excellent: spacious and luxurious. Lunches were very well organized, especially when eaten out in the middle of nature. However, we do not recommend the tent camp if you are looking for a minimum level of comfort (toilets, electricity). It also lacked atmosphere, even though there were many guests. Some light entertainment or welcome activity from our arrival around 4 p.m. until the evening would have been appreciated.Small bonus (or a big one in our opinion!): Kilipath gifted us a wonderful T-shirt!

A great experience for the whole family. We booked a three-day stay with Kilipath African Safari. Lydia was very helpful and accommodating from start to finish in planning the trip and arranging all the arrangements. After arriving in Arusha, we visited Tarangire on the first day, and the next day we drove to the Ngorongoro Crater with the same driver, Mayunga. We were happy that we were able to observe wild animals such as elephants, zebras, giraffes, leopards, lions, hippos, flamingos, buffaloes and others in their natural environment of beautiful nature. We were also lucky and saw the big five, although the rhino was very far away, at least that's what the driver told us. :) The driver was very communicative and was able to answer our questions about not only the animals, but also the lives of the local people, interesting facts from history and some information about tribal conflicts. On the third day, together with our guides Lydia and Geofrey, we visited the Materuni waterfall with a breathtaking view of Kilimanjaro. During the ride to the waterfall, we used the time to chat with our guides and learned a lot of interesting information about the life and customs of the people of Tanzania. After swimming in the waterfall, we visited a local village for lunch with a demonstration of coffee processing, including roasting and subsequent tasting. At our request, the guides took us to a shop with truly beautiful goods, where we bought local pictures in the Tinga tinga style. :) All services provided and arranged by Kilipath African Safari were at a professional level and we recommend this trip to the mainland.

10/10. 2-day Safari Tarangire NP & Ngorongo Crater We asked for a quote 2 days before we wanted to leave for safari, because we got led on by another company that charged double (1500$ per person) at the last second. Within 30 minutes of asking for a quote we made the down payment (yes we we’re skeptical but we had good faith) and I can assure you everything went as smooth as it gets. Plane tickets were booked within 12 hours (because of a national holiday otherwise it would’ve been quicker), and the Tour operator arranged every step of the way. Transfer from hotel to the airport and back, on time. Had an amazing time at the Tarangire NP and Ngorongoro Crater. Seen all of The Big Five and our guide Adam was amazing. Credits to him for being as excited as we were to encounter rare sightings as the rhino, as well as a family of elephants drinking and bathing in the same pool of water. 10/10 would recommend Kilipath Safari’s, we had an amazing time with them. See you in the next one! ALWAYS BRING BINOCULARS OR A FAR LENS CAMERA. (Iphone 17 pro or better will do as well)Ps. Posted the same review at safari bookings. Do your research to see if you can book directly with Kilipath Safari. (We didn’t)Ps 2. 2-day safari, the atmosphere was amazing, tanzania is warm & welcoming of tourists. Day 1 we had 4 people in a jeep, day 2 we had 7 (still enough room for everyone). Best for travelers who want to see more of what nature has to offer and are not afraid to wake up early for it.

Professional and punctual Really well organised, highly recommended. The vehicle is neat, the guide is thoughtful. The food is good although the first camp site needs a proper washroom facility.

Great driving, organization to improve At the end of September we participated with kilipath in a 5-day safari and the experience itself was unforgettable, especially thanks to our guide George, a really exceptional person: professional, helpful and very prepared. Thanks to him we were able to see all the Big 5 and fully experience the magic of the safari.Unfortunately, the organization did not live up to the quality of the experience. After paying a 30% deposit by bank transfer before departure, we were required to pay the remaining amount in the middle of the road via POS, without issuing a receipt.Due to the large amount, the transaction went pending pending approval, but the clerk continued to repeat the operation, generating more charges to the account. One of us is still waiting for a full refund. In summary, the safari was wonderful thanks to the guide, but the organization and management of payments should be more transparent and professional.
