Inclusive Tanzania Safari Itinerary Experience: Complete Guide for Travelers

Safari & Travel Tips

An all inclusive Tanzania safari itinerary experience offers a convenient and exciting way to explore some of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. Instead of arranging transportation, accommodation, park permits, meals and game drives separately, your safari operator coordinates the essential services in one carefully planned package.

From elephants beneath ancient baobab trees in Tarangire to big cats roaming the Serengeti and endangered black rhinos inside the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania delivers remarkable wildlife encounters throughout the year. A well-designed itinerary connects these destinations at a comfortable pace while giving you enough time to enjoy each park.

At Kilipath African Safaris, we create private and shared safari experiences for couples, families, honeymooners, solo travelers and groups. Packages can be adapted to different travel dates, accommodation preferences and budgets.

Why Choose an All-Inclusive Tanzania Safari?

Planning a safari involves more than reserving a hotel and hiring a vehicle. National park regulations, entry fees, driving distances, seasonal wildlife movements and accommodation availability must all be considered.

An all-inclusive package brings these arrangements together. This provides several important benefits:

  • One clear itinerary covering the entire safari
  • Professional transportation in a 4×4 safari vehicle
  • Prearranged national park and conservation fees
  • Accommodation selected according to your budget
  • Daily meals and drinking water during the safari
  • Game drives led by a knowledgeable guide
  • Airport or hotel transfers when stated in the quotation
  • Assistance before, during and after the trip

It also makes budgeting easier. You know which major services are included before traveling, reducing unexpected expenses during your holiday.

“All-inclusive” can vary between packages, so travelers should always check the final quotation. International flights, visas, travel insurance, tips, alcoholic drinks and optional activities are normally excluded unless specifically listed.

Recommended Seven-Day Tanzania Safari Itinerary

This seven-day Northern Circuit journey combines Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. It can be arranged as a private safari or adapted for a shorter shared departure.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha.

Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the hotel or explore part of the city. Before the safari, you will receive a short briefing covering the route, expected pickup time, weather conditions, packing advice and other practical information.

Accommodation: Arusha hotel
Meals: According to the selected hotel plan

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, meet your professional safari guide and depart for Tarangire National Park. The journey usually takes approximately two hours, depending on traffic and the location of your hotel.

Tarangire is known for its enormous baobab trees, beautiful savannah and large elephant populations. During the dry season, wildlife gathers close to the Tarangire River, creating excellent viewing opportunities. You may encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, warthogs, lions and many colorful bird species.

Enjoy a picnic or hot lunch at a designated site before continuing your afternoon game drive. Later, travel to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Accommodation: Lodge or tented camp near Tarangire or Karatu
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, travel toward Serengeti National Park through the scenic Ngorongoro highlands. The landscape changes dramatically as you descend from the forested slopes into the open plains.

After entering the Serengeti, enjoy a game drive while traveling toward your accommodation. The park supports an extraordinary concentration of animals, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos and several species of antelope.

The drive is relatively long, but wildlife sightings and sweeping landscapes make it a memorable part of the journey.

Accommodation: Serengeti lodge or tented camp
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 4: Full-Day Serengeti Safari

Begin the day early, when wildlife is generally active and the temperature is cooler. Your guide will choose the best game-drive areas based on recent sightings, weather and seasonal animal movements.

The Central Serengeti, particularly the Seronera Valley, is one of Tanzania’s most dependable areas for year-round wildlife viewing. Its rivers and permanent water sources attract predators and prey throughout the seasons.

You may watch lions resting near rocky kopjes, elephants moving between woodland areas or cheetahs scanning the plains. Leopards are more elusive, but the riverine trees of the Seronera region provide suitable habitat.

You can return to the camp for lunch or enjoy a picnic in the park, depending on your itinerary. Continue exploring in the afternoon before returning for dinner.

Accommodation: Serengeti lodge or tented camp
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Enjoy another morning game drive in the Serengeti before traveling toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

This route provides further opportunities to look for animals you may have missed during the previous day. Depending on your interests and schedule, an optional visit to Olduvai Gorge or a Maasai community can be arranged.

Arrive at your lodge or camp in the Ngorongoro region during the late afternoon or early evening. The crater highlands can become cold, particularly at night, so warm clothing is recommended.

Accommodation: Lodge or tented camp near Ngorongoro
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Safari

After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a rewarding game drive.

The crater is a vast volcanic caldera containing grasslands, woodland, wetlands and seasonal lakes. Its diverse habitats support lions, hyenas, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and gazelles. It is also one of the better places in Tanzania to search for the endangered black rhino, although sightings can never be guaranteed.

Enjoy lunch at a designated picnic area before completing your game drive. In the afternoon, ascend from the crater and travel to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Accommodation: Karatu lodge or tented camp
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 7: Lake Manyara and Return to Arusha

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park. The park lies beneath the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment and contains groundwater forest, open plains and lakeshore habitats.

Although smaller than the Serengeti and Tarangire, Lake Manyara offers a contrasting environment. Wildlife may include elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, baboons, hippos and different antelope species. Birdlife is particularly impressive, with pelicans, storks, hornbills and seasonal flamingos among the possible sightings.

After lunch and the game drive, return to Arusha. You can be transferred to your hotel or airport according to your onward travel plans.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch

What Is Included?

A typical all-inclusive Tanzania safari package includes:

  • Airport pickup and drop-off as specified
  • Transportation in a 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof
  • Services of a professional English-speaking safari guide
  • Private or shared game drives according to the package
  • National park entrance fees

  • Meals stated in the itinerary
  • Drinking water inside the safari vehicle
  • Government taxes and tourism charges
  • Camping equipment and a safari chef for camping packages

Private safaris use a dedicated vehicle and guide, allowing greater control over departure times and game-drive duration. Shared safaris are more affordable, but their schedules and routes are fixed.

  • International flights

We recommend reviewing every inclusion before confirming your reservation.

Accommodation Options

Your all inclusive Tanzania safari itinerary experience can be designed around three principal accommodation categories.

Budget Camping

Budget camping is ideal for adventurous travelers who want to stay close to nature. Packages normally include tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, pillows and meals prepared by a safari chef.

Public campsites have shared toilets and showers. Facilities are relatively simple, but camping provides an authentic bush atmosphere and excellent value.

Mid-Range Lodges and Tented Camps

Mid-range accommodation provides additional comfort, including private bathrooms, proper beds, electricity and restaurant service. Tented camps combine the atmosphere of sleeping in nature with the conveniences of a traditional hotel room.

This category is popular with couples, families and first-time safari travelers.

Luxury Safari Camps

Luxury properties offer spacious rooms or suites, refined dining, highly personalized service and impressive locations. Some have swimming pools, private decks, fireplaces or views across wildlife areas.

Luxury packages can also include scenic flights, exclusive game-drive arrangements and carefully prepared honeymoon experiences.

Tanzania Safari Prices

Safari prices depend on several factors:

  • Number of travelers
  • Private or shared vehicle
  • Length of the itinerary
  • Accommodation category
  • Time of year
  • Selected national parks
  • Domestic flights
  • Optional activities

A private safari usually costs more per person for a couple than for a group of four or six because vehicle expenses are divided among fewer travelers.

High-season travel, particularly from July through October and around Christmas, should be booked early. Accommodation prices and availability can change significantly during these periods.

Contact Kilipath African Safaris for a personalized quotation based on your dates, group size and preferred comfort level.

Best Time for a Tanzania Safari

Tanzania offers rewarding wildlife viewing throughout the year.

June to October

The long dry season provides excellent general wildlife viewing. Animals frequently gather near permanent water sources, and vegetation is less dense. July through October is also associated with the Great Migration in Northern Serengeti, though river crossings cannot be predicted.

December to March

During this period, the migration herds are commonly found around the Southern Serengeti and Ndutu region. Calving normally peaks between January and February, attracting lions, cheetahs and hyenas.

April and May

These are generally the wettest months. Some camps close, and certain roads can become challenging. However, the landscape is green, visitor numbers are lower and selected properties offer attractive seasonal rates.

November

Short rains can occur, but they are often intermittent. November can provide excellent value with fewer vehicles in popular areas.

Wildlife movement depends on rainfall and natural conditions, so exact animal locations cannot be guaranteed.

Optional Safari Activities

You can personalize your itinerary with additional experiences:

  • Serengeti hot-air balloon safari
  • Maasai cultural visit
  • Olduvai Gorge excursion
  • Walking safari
  • Tarangire night game drive
  • Materuni Waterfalls and coffee tour
  • Chemka Hot Springs
  • Zanzibar beach extension
  • Domestic flight between Serengeti and Zanzibar

A balloon safari is particularly popular with honeymooners. It offers an aerial view of the plains, followed by a celebratory bush breakfast. Advance booking is strongly recommended.

Preparing for Your Safari

Bring lightweight, neutral-colored clothing for daytime game drives and warmer layers for early mornings. The Ngorongoro highlands can be surprisingly cold. A comfortable jacket is therefore essential.

Useful items include:

  • Sun hat and sunglasses
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent
  • Comfortable closed shoes
  • Camera and spare batteries
  • Power bank
  • Small day bag
  • Personal medication
  • Passport and travel documents

Soft-sided luggage is preferable, particularly when domestic flights are included. Baggage allowances vary between airlines and should be confirmed before departure.
