Lake Manyara offers a varied safari setting, with groundwater forest, lake habitats and views of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Its changing scenery gives families plenty to observe beyond individual animal sightings.
The park supports wildlife including elephants, baboons, buffalo, giraffes and hippos. It is also known for tree-climbing lions, although finding them requires luck. Birdlife adds another layer of interest, with sightings varying according to season and water conditions.

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, meet your guide and depart from Arusha for Lake Manyara National Park.
Enjoy a game drive through the park’s different habitats, stopping to observe wildlife and take photographs. Your guide can adjust the pace to your children’s interests, with breaks at designated visitor areas.
Have lunch at an approved picnic location before continuing your safari. Later, travel to your accommodation around Mto wa Mbu or Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Safari
After an early breakfast, travel to Ngorongoro for a crater game drive.
Spend the day exploring with your guide, looking for wildlife and enjoying the crater scenery. Carry a warm layer for the cooler morning and have a picnic lunch during your excursion.
Return to your lodge in the afternoon. Depending on the day’s timing, your family may have time to relax before dinner.
