Safari & Travel Tips

Experience Tanzania with a safari planned around your interests, budget and available time. From your first enquiry to your final transfer, Kilipath African Safaris helps you bring together the route, accommodation and guiding that make your holiday work.

A guided Tanzania safari package itinerary gives you a clear picture of each day: where you will travel, which parks you will explore and where you will sleep. Whether you prefer a shared camping adventure or a private lodge safari, we help you choose a practical itinerary with time to enjoy the experience.

Send us your travel dates, number of travelers and preferred accommodation style to receive a personalized safari proposal.

Explore Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit

Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro form a well-established northern safari route, allowing travelers to combine different landscapes within one journey. The Tanzania Tourist Board features these destinations together in its northern circuit itineraries. site.tanzaniatourism.go.tz

Your route should reflect more than a list of parks. The number of nights, accommodation locations and transfer distances all affect how much time you spend exploring.

For a shorter holiday, a four-day itinerary offers a compact introduction. A longer private safari can include an additional Serengeti night, giving you a full day of game drives without moving accommodation.

Sample Four-Day Guided Tanzania Safari Package Itinerary

The following itinerary provides a starting point for planning. Accommodation and departure arrangements will be specified in your quotation.

Day Route and activities Overnight area
1 Arusha to Tarangire for a game drive Karatu or nearby
2 Travel to Central Serengeti, with wildlife viewing en route Central Serengeti
3 Morning Serengeti game drive, then travel toward Ngorongoro Ngorongoro area
4 Ngorongoro Crater game drive, then return to Arusha Departure or optional Arusha hotel

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Begin with an early pickup from your agreed meeting point in Arusha. After meeting your guide, travel to Tarangire for your first game drive.

Tarangire is known for its elephants and distinctive baobab landscapes, offering a memorable introduction to Tanzania’s national parks. TANAPA

Your guide will help you observe wildlife, explain animal behavior and introduce the landscape around you. Enjoy lunch during the day before continuing your game drive and traveling to your accommodation.

Dinner and overnight arrangements depend on the camping or lodge package you select.

Day 2: Travel to Central Serengeti

After breakfast, begin the journey toward Central Serengeti. This is a substantial travel day, so the itinerary should allow for the road journey, park entry procedures and stops.

Once inside the park, wildlife viewing begins as you travel toward your camp. Your guide will adapt the afternoon’s activities to the time available and the sightings along your route.

Spend the night at your selected campsite or tented camp in Central Serengeti. Your proposal will identify the accommodation category and explain the facilities included.

Day 3: Serengeti Game Drive to Ngorongoro

Head out for a morning game drive before continuing toward the Ngorongoro area.

This day combines wildlife viewing with a transfer. Your guide will coordinate the schedule around the route, park permits and overnight location. Animal sightings depend on natural conditions, so each game drive offers a different experience.

Arrive at your accommodation for dinner and rest before the following morning’s crater visit.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater and Return to Arusha

After an early breakfast, travel to the crater access point and descend for your game drive.

Explore with your guide, stopping for wildlife sightings and lunch as the schedule allows. Later, leave the conservation area and return to Arusha.

If you plan to fly that evening, share your flight details before booking. We will assess the transfer arrangements and advise whether an overnight stay would make your departure more comfortable.

Choose a Shared or Private Safari

Your guided Tanzania safari package itinerary can be arranged around two different travel styles.

Shared Safari

A shared safari suits solo travelers, couples and friends who want to join other guests and share vehicle costs.

Kilipath shared safaris accommodate a maximum of seven travelers in a safari jeep, with guaranteed window seats. The group follows a coordinated route and departure schedule.

Shared camping is a practical option for travelers comfortable with simple facilities and communal bathrooms. It also offers opportunities to meet fellow travelers during the journey.

Request the departure details for your dates so you can review the route and accommodation before confirming.

Private Safari

A private safari provides a dedicated vehicle and guide for your party. It offers more flexibility when planning the route, overnight stops and time spent in each destination.

This option suits families, honeymooners, photographers and travelers who prefer a schedule built around their own priorities.

For example, a five-day private itinerary can include two nights in Central Serengeti:

Day Suggested private safari plan
1 Tarangire game drive
2 Travel to Central Serengeti
3 Full day exploring Central Serengeti
4 Morning game drive and transfer toward Ngorongoro
5 Ngorongoro Crater and return to Arusha

Select Your Accommodation Style

Accommodation influences both your comfort and the overall package cost.

Budget camping: Sleep in supplied tents at public campsites. Camping equipment and a safari chef are included when specified in your package. Toilets and showers are shared, and hot water may be limited.

Mid-range accommodation: Choose lodges or tented camps with private bathroom facilities. These provide additional comfort while keeping the safari experience close to nature.

Luxury accommodation: Request properties with upgraded rooms, amenities and service. Your quotation will identify the selected properties and room categories.

A mixed accommodation package may also be possible. Ask us to explain each overnight stop so you know which nights involve camping and which include a lodge or tented room.

What Does the Safari Package Include?

Your written quotation is the final reference for inclusions. Depending on the selected package, arrangements can include:

  • A 4×4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof.
  • An English-speaking safari guide.
  • Park entry fees for the agreed route.
  • Accommodation during the safari.
  • Meals listed in the itinerary.
  • Drinking water during game drives.
  • Camping equipment and a chef for camping packages.

Flights, airport transfers, pre-safari hotels and optional activities should be clearly listed in your proposal.

Personal purchases, gratuities and activities outside the agreed itinerary are generally additional expenses.

How Much Will Your Guided Safari Cost?

The price depends on your travel dates, group size, safari length, accommodation and transport arrangements.

A shared camping safari spreads vehicle costs across several travelers. A private safari reserves the vehicle for your party, while lodge selection can substantially change the total.

To compare quotations accurately, check the number of nights, named accommodations, room arrangements, transfers, meals and optional extras. A lower headline price may cover a different route or accommodation category.

Request a quote for your exact dates rather than relying on a general starting price.

Prepare for Your Safari

Bring comfortable clothing, sun protection, sturdy shoes and a warm layer for cool mornings and evenings. A camera, spare batteries and personal medication are useful additions.

For camping, pack toiletries, a towel and a small flashlight. Confirm the supplied sleeping equipment before departure.

Tell us about dietary requirements, children’s ages or mobility needs during planning. These details help us assess accommodation and make suitable arrangements.
