Safari & Travel Tips

🧳 Essential Travel Documents

  • Valid passport (with at least 6 months before expiry)

  • Visa (if not already obtained online or on arrival)

  • Travel insurance documents

  • Vaccination certificate (especially Yellow Fever, if required)

  • Flight tickets / e-tickets

  • Safari itinerary and accommodation confirmations

  • Copy of passport (digital & printed)


👕 Clothing (Neutral Colors: khaki, beige, olive, brown)

  • 2–3 short-sleeve t-shirts / tops

  • 2–3 long-sleeve shirts (for sun & bug protection)

  • 1 light fleece or jacket (for early morning & evening drives)

  • 2–3 pairs of lightweight trousers or safari pants

  • 1 pair of shorts (for warmer days at camp)

  • 1 casual outfit for evenings at the lodge

  • Light scarf or buff (to block dust during drives)

  • Swimsuit (many lodges have pools)

  • Undergarments & socks (quick-dry are best)

  • Pajamas / sleepwear


👟 Footwear

  • Comfortable walking shoes or trail runners

  • Flip-flops or sandals (for lodge/camp use)


🧼 Toiletries & Personal Care

  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss

  • Travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, soap

  • Sunscreen (high SPF)

  • Lip balm with SPF

  • Moisturizer (sun & wind can dry out skin)

  • Deodorant

  • Razor

  • Sanitary products

  • Insect repellent with DEET or picaridin

  • Wet wipes / facial wipes

  • Tissues / toilet paper (small pack)

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Any prescription medications (+ copy of prescription)

  • Anti-malarial medication (consult your doctor)

  • Pain relievers (e.g. Panadol, Ibuprofen)

  • Anti-diarrhea tablets (e.g. Imodium)

  • Motion sickness tablets (for bumpy drives)

  • Electrolyte powder or tablets

  • First aid kit (plasters, antiseptic, etc.)

  • Universal travel adapter (Tanzania uses UK-style plugs – Type G)

  • Camera, batteries, memory cards

  • Binoculars (optional but highly recommended)
