Combine wildlife adventures with time beside the Indian Ocean on a Tanzania safari and Zanzibar holiday. Spend your mornings exploring the mainland’s national parks, then slow down on Zanzibar’s beaches after your safari.
At Kilipath African Safaris, we help you build an itinerary around your travel dates, budget and interests. Whether you are planning a honeymoon, a family holiday or a trip with friends, your journey can include carefully selected accommodation, guided game drives, domestic flights and airport transfers.

Discover Tanzania’s Safari and Beach Experiences
A combined holiday brings together two different sides of Tanzania. On the mainland, the northern safari circuit connects destinations such as Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Zanzibar adds an island stay to your journey.
Your itinerary should give each destination enough time. Adding too many parks to a short safari can mean spending much of your holiday travelling between them. We help you choose a route that balances wildlife viewing, transfers and relaxation.
A Sample 10-Day Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar Itinerary
This suggested itinerary includes arrival in Arusha, four safari days, a separate flight day and a Zanzibar beach stay. Accommodation and flight arrangements are confirmed when preparing your quotation.
Day 1: Arrival and Overnight in Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport and transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, relax, enjoy dinner and meet your safari representative for a briefing.
An overnight stay before the safari gives you time to rest and prepare for your first game drive.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
Leave Arusha after breakfast and travel to Tarangire for a game drive. Spend the day exploring with your guide, stopping for lunch before continuing your wildlife search.
In the afternoon, travel to your accommodation near the park or in the Karatu area, according to your confirmed itinerary.
Day 3: Travel to Serengeti National Park
Continue towards Serengeti through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is a substantial travel day, so departure time and stops should be planned carefully.
Enjoy wildlife viewing as you approach your camp, subject to arrival time. Spend the night in Central Serengeti.
Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti
Dedicate the day to exploring Serengeti with your guide. A full day gives you more flexibility to follow wildlife sightings and spend time observing animal behaviour.
Return to your camp for dinner and a second overnight stay. An optional balloon safari may be arranged at an additional cost, subject to availability and operating conditions.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater and Return to Arusha
Depart Serengeti early and travel towards Ngorongoro for a crater game drive. After your visit, continue to Arusha for an overnight stay.
This is a long day involving both driving and wildlife viewing. Travellers who prefer a slower pace can add a night near Ngorongoro before returning to Arusha.
Day 6: Fly to Zanzibar
Transfer to the airport for your confirmed domestic flight to Zanzibar. On arrival, continue to your beach accommodation and settle in.
Keeping the flight on a separate day provides more breathing room after the safari.
Days 7–9: Enjoy Your Zanzibar Stay
Spend three days enjoying your hotel, the beach and your chosen activities. Optional excursions can include a guided Stone Town visit, a spice farm tour or a snorkelling trip.
You can keep these days relaxed or arrange activities in advance. Excursions, boat trips and hotel meal plans should be clearly listed in your quotation.
Day 10: Departure
Transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your onward flight. Your pickup time will depend on your hotel location and the airline’s check-in requirements.
Choose Your Safari Style
Private safari: Travel with a dedicated vehicle and guide, with greater flexibility over your route and daily schedule. This works well for couples, families and travellers wanting additional nights in Serengeti.
Shared safari: Join other travellers on a scheduled route. Sharing vehicle and guide costs can help reduce the safari budget, although departure times and accommodation arrangements are less flexible.
Fly-in safari: Ask about flying between Zanzibar and a mainland safari destination. Available routes, baggage allowances and connections must be checked for your travel dates.
Accommodation for Your Budget
Your holiday can combine different accommodation levels rather than using the same category throughout.
Budget camping offers a simpler safari experience with shared facilities. Mid-range lodges and tented camps provide more comfort, while luxury properties offer additional services and amenities.
For Zanzibar, tell us whether you prefer a quiet beach hotel, a family resort or a honeymoon stay. Your preferred meal plan also affects the total cost.
What Determines the Package Price?
The final price depends on the number of travellers, safari duration, accommodation, season, domestic flights and Zanzibar hotel choice.
Before booking, check whether your quotation includes:
- Safari transport and guide services.
- Park entry and applicable conservation fees.
- Accommodation and specified meals.
- Domestic flights and baggage allowances.
- Airport and hotel transfers.
- Optional excursions or activities.
Ask for a clear list of exclusions, including tips, personal purchases and any meals or drinks outside the agreed package.
